SASO and SABER: authority, platform and certificates
Separate the Saudi authority from the electronic platform and the body that assesses your product.
SASO is the authority; SABER is the platform
SASO establishes the Saudi standards and conformity framework and accepts conformity assessment bodies. SABER is the electronic platform for product registration, conformity records and shipment requests. They are not two interchangeable certificates or two competing approvals. Start with the actual product regulation and the importer’s applicable route.
Name the decision and the document
For regulated products, an accepted body examines the models and technical evidence and decides conformity. The product certificate and shipment certificate serve separate purposes. Calling every document a “SASO certificate” can hide which record is missing.
