ISO/IEC 20000-1 Certificate Information Technology Service Management System

ISO/IEC 20000-1 addresses the service management system across defined service activities. It is not certification of a software product, an ITIL qualification or a guarantee of uninterrupted delivery. The service catalogue and actual customer commitments establish useful boundaries. The applicant implements its system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra is limited to actual activities and sites, application information, authority and impartiality review; it does not include designing or implementing the client’s management system. The certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and entities under its organisational control cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.

Define services and the supply chain

List services, internal or external customers, responsible teams, locations and service hours. Explain suppliers and responsibilities that remain with the service organisation. In a hypothetical cloud-supported help desk, compare what the customer was promised with the supplier’s commitment and escalation route. A supplier certificate does not automatically cover the organisation’s end-to-end service management. Broad company registration is not an adequate catalogue.

Connect incidents, problems and changes

Trace an actual service interruption through customer impact, priority, response and restoration records. If problem analysis addresses recurrence, link the cause and solution to the incident. If a change is needed, retain authorisation, testing, release and rollback information, then evaluate service results. These related records explain more than a closed ticket count. Do not demand an identical procedure for every event regardless of the service context.

Demonstrate service performance and readiness

Connect service levels and reports with customer review, suppliers, capacity, availability and continuity arrangements. Show what happens when targets are missed and whether action works. Complete internal audit and management review. Supply service scope, customer types, sites, people and outsourcing to the certification body. ISO/IEC 20000-3 guides scope and ISO/IEC 20000-6 adds the certification-body framework; planning and fees should fit actual service complexity, not merely the number of support tickets.

Application, independent decision and quotation

Supply the legal entity, actual activities, locations, workforce, shifts, supplier dependencies and existing records. Verify the proposed programme, edition and the certification body’s current scope. Initial audit stages, findings and corrective-action evidence precede a separate impartial decision; ISO does not issue certificates. Distinguish implementation and any testing costs from independent assessment, surveillance, recertification, travel and follow-up. Missing records or unresolved actions affect the calendar; neither a paid application nor an audit report guarantees certification.

Official sources and application limits

The operating examples are hypothetical, not customer events or guaranteed decisions. The actual standard and competent body determine requirements.
