Patent publication after eighteen months

Türkiye: practical decision and evidence

Patent applications are ordinarily published after eighteen months calculated from filing or the claimed priority date. Check the official publication record and any early-publication request. Publication reveals the technical disclosure; it is not a grant decision.

Worked file: a team finds its application online and tells customers that the patent has been granted. Compare the publication number with the grant register and approved claim set. Correct the statement and identify whether the file remains an application under examination.

Confidentiality before patent filing

Before patent filing, control public presentations, offers, websites and disclosures to partners. Keep a dated disclosure chronology and signed confidentiality terms. A later confidentiality agreement cannot erase an earlier public disclosure; investigate the applicable country rules before relying on an exception.

Third-party patent observations

Third-party observations on a published patent application should identify relevant prior art and explain its effect on the claims. Record the application number and document dates. Observations are not the same as becoming a formal opponent after grant.

Patent grant decision

A patent grant follows the competent office’s examination and required formal steps. Check the grant decision, approved claims, fee status and register entry. A search report, supplier promise or test result is not a patent grant.
