The inventor is the person who created the invention; the applicant is the person entitled to seek the right.
Türkiye: practical decision and evidence
The inventor is the person who created the invention; the applicant is the person entitled to seek the right. Document employment, assignment or succession as relevant. Naming the inventor does not by itself resolve title to the application.
Worked file: the engineer is named inventor while another company applies. Examine employment, assignment and authorisation records, and confirm the true applicant identity. Correct entitlement gaps before filing or recordal; technical authorship and legal title require different supporting documents.
Employee inventions
For employee inventions, record the technical disclosure, work duties, employer resources and notification chronology. Analyse the applicable service-invention rules and contractual position. Inventorship, ownership and remuneration are separate questions; employment alone should not replace a documented assessment.
University inventions
For university inventions, preserve invention disclosure, institutional duties, funding conditions and publication plans. Analyse the applicable higher-education invention rules. Academic authorship and ownership of patent rights are separate matters and require documented entitlement.
Individual or company ownership
Choose the applicant according to the intended legal owner, not convenience alone. Record individual or company identity and any assignment arrangements. A shareholder and the company are different persons; rights held personally are not automatically company assets.
