Patent assignment and licensing

Türkiye: practical decision and evidence

Separate patent assignment from a licence to exploit specified rights. Identify patent/application numbers, territories, exclusive/non-exclusive terms and register requirements. A licence agreement does not automatically make the licensee the patent owner.

Worked file: a licence grants one-country manufacturing but the licensee assumes global title. Read patent numbers, countries, exclusivity, permitted acts and recordal obligations. Separate ownership from permission and verify the register; an agreement heading alone does not determine its actual legal effect.

Inventor and applicant

The inventor is the person who created the invention; the applicant is the person entitled to seek the right. Document employment, assignment or succession as relevant. Naming the inventor does not by itself resolve title to the application.

Individual or company ownership

Choose the applicant according to the intended legal owner, not convenience alone. Record individual or company identity and any assignment arrangements. A shareholder and the company are different persons; rights held personally are not automatically company assets.

Patent annual fees

Patent maintenance needs a calendar linked to filing dates and the applicable annual-fee year. Verify the current official tariff and payment record. Payment to an intermediary does not prove that the office received the correct fee for the correct patent.

Official filing and support

This guidance concerns Turkish rights unless a section expressly names another jurisdiction. Kayra can coordinate research, document preparation and follow-up.
