Documents and Records Required for Halal Cosmetics
Clarify product, buyer and programme basis. Natural, organic or cruelty-free claims do not automatically satisfy halal-origin and production assessment requirements.
Build the origin-to-formula evidence chain
A glycerine statement covers one supplier code while the production record uses another. Reconcile supplier, material, manufacturing information, formula version and relevant batches. Include fragrance subcomponents, carriers and processing aids where relevant. Mark unknowns for the issuer. INCI and safety data can support identity but do not necessarily disclose animal or plant origin.
Programme conditions and worked assessment
Example: A contract manufacturer sends only a safety assessment, which the brand treats as the halal application file. Establish formula versions, ingredient origins, perfume components and processing aids separately. Submit site process and shared-equipment information under the programme. Confirm the buyer's accepted issuer and market conditions. The safety report is not an origin statement. Keep missing supplier declarations as open work, and distinguish brand owner, parent company and manufacturer roles rather than assuming one company's file covers every site and recipe.
Evidence and authority boundary
Legal cosmetic duties and halal programme acceptance require separate verification. Preparation does not grant authority or medical safety; inspect the actual product and site rather than a generic company declaration.
