BRCGS Packaging Materials: Certification Body and Consultancy Support
Define the packaging materials, intended uses, converting or printing operations and outsourced processes before choosing support. BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7 is the relevant programme here; a generic food-factory manual does not explain the packaging site's actual product-safety and quality controls.
Select packaging-specific preparation support
Ask the consultant to specify the records examined and deliverables: product specifications, process risks, artwork or print controls where relevant, traceability, authentic checks and staff responsibilities. Confirm access to the current Standard and programme resources. Training or consultancy recognition does not itself confer certificate-issuing authority.
Connect artwork changes to the production line
Hypothetically, a customer approves revised packaging artwork, but the old master remains at the press and only sales has the new PDF. Preparation should trace how the approved version reaches production, how old material is identified and how operators check the actual print at changeover.
Review the approval record, controlled master, job order and genuine line checks together. Assign the unresolved handover to named responsibilities and test the corrected process on a real job. Do not backdate an approval or treat a clean procedure file as proof that the wrong version cannot be printed.
Keep consultancy and certification decisions separate
Agree the gap register, practical actions and evidence required for handover. Technical product-suitability work or laboratory services, if needed for the actual intended use, must be identified separately; a consultant's opinion is not a substitute for appropriate evidence.
Kayra can organise the agreed preparation and document review. Choose a BRCGS-approved certification body for the actual Packaging Materials programme through the official Directory. That body conducts the certification process and retains its decision; consultancy does not issue BRCGS certificates or guarantee certification.
Official sources
Packaging consultancy prepares real site controls and evidence. The approved certification body retains the audit and certification decision; no Kayra programme approval or outcome is asserted.
Can a food-factory manual cover a packaging converter?
It cannot replace a review of the actual packaging processes, intended use and programme requirements.
What should the artwork handover demonstrate?
That the approved version reaches the job and operators check genuine output against it.
Who issues the BRCGS certificate?
The appropriately approved certification body, following its certification process.

Scope and decision verification
Kayra Patent supports requirement analysis, document preparation and process coordination. Conformity or certification decisions belong to the independent body or public authority authorised under the applicable law and programme. Kayra cannot replace that decision or guarantee a certificate. Verify the issuer, scope, dates and any official register entry.
