BRCGS Packaging Enquiry and Validity
Collect the complete BRCGS certificate: site name and address, standard and issue, scope, certification body and dates. Certificate search is provided through the BRCGS Directory; the owner moved it to a credentialed service with free Directory Lite access, rather than unrestricted public certificate search.
Use the official Directory access route
Match the Packaging Materials issue, certified manufacturing site and stated activities with the supplied packaging. An approved body’s directory listing is a separate check; it does not show that this factory or every converting process is covered by a current certificate.
Match Packaging Materials scope
Hypothetical example: printed food labels are supplied, but the document presented describes plain-film manufacture at another factory. Ask for the actual printing and converting site’s certificate scope before treating the labels as covered; do not infer coverage from the group’s name.
Compare the intended use, material or product category and manufacturing activities with the record. A Food Safety certificate for a customer’s food factory does not verify the packaging producer’s Packaging Materials status. Keep the supplier, site and scope discrepancy with the purchase evidence.
Keep unresolved evidence separate from a positive check
Save the record consulted, check date and outstanding differences. Where access or details cannot be resolved, ask the holder and its approved certification body for clarification. Do not label a certificate forged merely because login or a search result is unavailable.
