BRCGS Packaging Materials: Required Documents and Records
Identify the site, packaging materials, intended applications and production processes. Organise the agreed document review around specifications, process risks, supplier information, controlled procedures, authentic production checks and traceability. Use the current Issue 7 Standard and programme clarifications to determine the actual requirements.
Start the file from materials and intended use
Link each record to its material, operation, period and responsible person. Distinguish a procedure describing future work from a record showing work performed. Identify missing product-suitability evidence against the real intended use; do not prescribe the same laboratory package for every packaging material.
Bridge the identity of material sent for outside coating
Hypothetically, substrate is dispatched for coating and returned under the contractor's delivery number, which is not linked to the original material lot. Read the dispatch, contractor process information, receipt and subsequent production records together to identify where the relationship is lost.
Record the original identity, contractor reference, quantities and actual reconciliation evidence. Clarify who controls the outsourced step and retains its records. Do not invent a lot link retrospectively or present an incomplete traceability exercise as successful. BRCGS's current clarification distinguishes a returned-material outsourced process from other vendor arrangements.
Hand over a controlled file and unresolved gaps
Keep approved versions, access responsibilities and the gap register visible. Assign missing evidence to the party able to provide authentic information. A signed checklist cannot replace absent contractor records or determine suitability of an unverified material.
Kayra can organise the agreed records review and practical handover. The business controls materials and production; technical evidence and legal compliance require the relevant competent parties. The approved certification body decides certification. Document preparation alone is not BRCGS certification or approval of every intended application.
Official sources
The file connects authentic material and process evidence. It does not create missing history, approve every packaging use or replace the certification body's decision.
Are blank procedures enough?
No. Link controlled procedures to genuine records of the actual process.
What is checked after outside coating?
The relationship between original lot, contractor reference, returned material and subsequent production.
Does a complete folder confer certification?
No. The approved certification body conducts its own process and decision.

The exact records for BRCGS Packaging Required Documents depend on the confirmed scope. Current, consistent and traceable information reduces avoidable revisions.
Scope and decision verification
Kayra Patent supports requirement analysis, document preparation and process coordination. Conformity or certification decisions belong to the independent body or public authority authorised under the applicable law and programme. Kayra cannot replace that decision or guarantee a certificate. Verify the issuer, scope, dates and any official register entry.
