GLOBALG.A.P. IFA: Audit Process and Harvest Evidence
Agree the IFA edition, production option, products, plots and product-handling scope with the appropriately approved certification body. Identify the actual legal operator, addresses and seasonal activities. Confirm applicable documents and audit arrangements before preparing a visit; a farm-wide description does not automatically include every crop or packing point.

Confirm what the body will assess
Agree the IFA edition, production option, products, plots and product-handling scope with the appropriately approved certification body. Identify the actual legal operator, addresses and seasonal activities. Confirm applicable documents and audit arrangements before preparing a visit; a farm-wide description does not automatically include every crop or packing point.
Use the applicable checklist to identify preparation gaps and responsible people. Make actual operations, personnel and records available under the body’s arrangements. A self-check or consultancy visit is preparation, not the approved body’s independent audit or certification decision. As of 3 October 2026, IFA v6.1 Smart has been published since 1 September. Its valid-from and replacement dates remain to be announced; v6.1 GFS is not yet public, and v6 GFS remains valid pending benchmarking. Confirm the applicable edition with the body.
Explain contracted harvesting as it really operates
Link observed activities to actual records: plot and product identification, inputs, harvesting, handling, worker instructions and dispatch. Describe contracted tasks and who controls them rather than marking them absent because the business has no permanent harvest employees. Let the body determine the assessment implications from the confirmed facts.
Hypothetically, an application says no tasks are outsourced, but a seasonal contractor picks and loads the produce. Correct the activity description, name the responsible parties and present genuine worker briefing and harvest-to-dispatch records for a representative lot. If evidence is missing, disclose the gap and organise current action. Do not create backdated training sheets to make a past harvest appear covered.
Close findings and plan continuing assessment
After the audit, distinguish the finding, immediate correction, underlying cause and action preventing recurrence. Provide evidence under the body’s applicable process rather than replacing an operating record with a promise. A submission being received does not mean that the finding is accepted or certification granted.
IFA involves annual audits; continuing certification requires the body’s audit within the current certificate’s validity period. Plan production and handling changes with the body rather than assuming a calendar reminder renews status. Kayra may coordinate agreed preparation; the approved body controls assessment and decision, and the producer remains responsible for actual compliance.
Official sources
Preparation exposes the real harvest operation and gaps. The appropriately approved body determines assessment, findings and certification; no result or universal duration is promised.
Is the preparation checklist the official audit?
No. The approved certification body conducts the independent assessment under applicable IFA rules.
Should contracted picking be disclosed?
Yes. Describe the actual tasks and responsibilities and make relevant genuine evidence available.
Does sending corrective evidence guarantee certification?
No. The body reviews it and makes the applicable decision.
