GLOBALG.A.P. IFA: Frequently Asked Questions
Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) assesses responsible practices in primary production.
Which production and edition does IFA cover?
Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) assesses responsible practices in primary production. For fruit and vegetables, IFA Version 6 Smart and GFS are two valid editions. GFS matters where a buyer requires GFSI recognition; select the edition against actual customer needs.
What information belongs in the application?
Identify the producer, products, plots, area and product handling steps in the application. Individual producers and producer groups do not necessarily have the same control arrangements. Confirm edition and scope with an approved certification body; Turkish İTU certification does not automatically replace IFA.
Which practices need preparation?
Preparation considers food safety and traceability alongside the environment and workers’ health, safety and welfare. Irrigation sources, plant protection applications and harvest identity are practical evidence examples. Assess buyer requested add-ons separately from the basic IFA scope.
How are batch and plot records connected?
Connect plot and product identity to input applications, harvest and dispatch records. Where certified and out of scope products share a facility, explain their separation and quantity tracking. Follow improvement targets using starting data and results rather than a plan with no measurements.
How is certificate continuation planned?
IFA compliance is audited annually. To retain status, the body’s audit must occur within the current certificate’s validity period. Assess new plots, products and handling points for scope effects. A certificate copy alone does not prove that the current product is covered and valid.
Why does quotation cost vary?
Total cost depends on area, location and existing practices. Distinguish certification body service charges from GLOBALG.A.P. registration and certificate licence fees. Group arrangements, preparation and necessary analyses can affect the plan; there is no universal price or completion date.
Scope discussion and responsibilities
Kayra Patent consultancy supports scope definition, record organisation and tracking unfinished preparation work. The relevant authorised or scheme approved body performs the audit and makes the certification decision. Separate consultancy and that body’s services in the quotation.
