IFA fruit-and-vegetable certification is subject to annual certification-body audits; a successful audit results in a certificate valid for one year. Begin renewal planning from the current certificate, edition, products, sites and applicable certification option, not from an assumption that paying last year’s invoice extends validity.
Prepare renewal from the current farm scope
Tell the approved body about changes in fields, crops, handling activities and the producer or group structure. Agree the relevant audit arrangements and prepare the current regulations, principles and criteria and checklist. A new field or product should not be presented as already covered just because the producer keeps the same GGN.
Demonstrate the year’s implementation and improvement
Review previous non-compliances and their effectiveness checks alongside production records, input use, water management, traceability and staff responsibilities. IFA v6 also uses a continuous improvement plan: set measurable goals, implement measures, review progress and update the plan in light of actual results.
Hypothetically, a grower carries forward last year’s water-efficiency goal but has no meter readings after changing its irrigation system. Copying the old plan cannot show progress. Establish reliable current measurement, explain the missing data, assign responsibility and revise a realistic target; do not invent historical readings or promise a universal percentage reduction.
Confirm the new decision and current public status
The approved certification body assesses conformity and verifies correction of non-compliances before issuing the certificate. Check the resulting products, sites, dates and status in the applicable platform. The annual audit is not merely an administrative reprint of the previous document.
