CERTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE GUIDE

IFS Food Certificate Transfer

An IFS Food body change must retain the site's certification history. Part 3 section 2.5 of Version 8 specifically discusses a certification body transferring its certification activities to another body; it is not a promise of automatic certificate transfer for every client.

Define what is actually changing

Give the proposed approved body the COID, manufacturing address, product and technology scopes, current certificate and prior audit history. Include the previous report and action plan, last unannounced audit year and any withdrawal history. Ask it to clarify the actual assessment route.

Do not discard earlier findings

Hypothetical example: a site asks a new body to disregard an earlier label-control finding because the provider has changed. Keep the original finding and product evidence visible; a new contract does not establish that its correction was effective.

IFS requires review of the previous audit report and action plan even when another body issued them. Connect correction, root cause and prevention to subsequent operating results. Preserve the audit history needed to check unannounced-audit frequency; do not present a body change as a reset.

Separate record support from the decision

Kayra can organise the history and gap evidence and prepare questions. Audit reports belong to the company; arrange appropriate consent for their disclosure rather than assuming every report is publicly accessible. The approved body controls assessment and certification decisions.

For a body-level transfer of activities, the receiving body must examine current certificates and decide whether further action is necessary. After any outcome, check actual COID, site, scope and current certificate record through the official route. Consultancy cannot guarantee acceptance or uninterrupted status.

Can a new body ignore the previous report?

No. IFS requires the previous report and action plan to be reviewed even if issued by another body.

Does section 2.5 promise every client an automatic transfer?

No. It specifically addresses transfer of certification activities between bodies; the actual client route must be clarified.
