Kosher questions: pareve, ingredients and mark permission
Kosher status depends on the chosen issuer's accepted products, materials and manufacturing conditions. OU is a named example, not the universal authority for every programme.
Decision and worked example
Example: A business expects automatic pareve status for a vegan product and sends only the ingredient list. Explain equipment history and production arrangement as well as ingredients. The actual issuer assesses the designation; vegan status is not that decision. Compare accepted ingredients with product lists and proposed labels. Do not assume another issuer's raw-material certificate is automatically accepted. Printing a symbol requires real permission; a consultant's review is not a mark licence. Clarify exactly which finished products the issuer has assessed.
Questions and answers
Is vegan automatically kosher?
No, issuer conditions are separately assessed.
Is pareve only a recipe matter?
Equipment and manufacture also matter.
Is an ingredient certificate a product licence?
Product and label permission differ.
Conditions and authority limits
OU's published process is an example source, not evidence of Kayra/QRS recognition. Required equipment treatment and religious determinations belong to the actual authorised issuer.
Kayra service role
Kayra may support scope definition, document preparation and assessment coordination within its contracted role. The programme owner’s rules and the selected body’s current authority, scope and decision responsibilities are checked separately. Preparation does not guarantee certification, mark permission, an audit rating or legal compliance.
