ISO 14001 questions: aspects, permits and performance
Separate system certification from permits, measured outputs and product claims.
Decision and conditional example
An office-only certificate does not automatically cover a factory production line; check the activities and sites stated. ISO 14001 certification does not replace an environmental permit. Reduced electricity use does not prove that every environmental impact fell: consider activity volume, waste and other significant aspects. For the 2026 edition, confirm catalogue status, the existing certificate’s status and the provider’s accredited scope separately. A consultant can explain preparation, but cannot guarantee the independent audit or decision result. Verify environmental claims against the actual boundary and evidence.
Evidence linked to this purpose
- Office and production scope distinction
- Permit versus management-system certificate
- Data supporting the target result
Standard and authority boundaries
The current ISO catalogue edition is ISO 14001:2026. Publication alone does not determine an existing certificate’s status or extend a body’s accredited scope. Confirm edition and transition arrangements with the issuer. A management-system certificate is not an environmental permit, a zero-pollution claim or a guarantee that every legal condition is continuously met.
Kayra’s role and the independent decision
The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. ISO publishes standards and does not certify organisations. Verify the chosen body’s current standard edition, activity coverage and any claimed accreditation. Preparation does not guarantee approval, legal compliance or authority to certify a newly published edition. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
