ISO 14001 Certificate Transfer
Changing certification bodies is a review of existing certification, not a sale of a replacement document. Confirm whether the accredited transfer route applies before terminating the existing arrangement. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system.

Prepare the receiving body’s review
Supply the current certificate and site annex, initial or latest recertification report, latest surveillance report, open findings, relevant complaints, regulatory engagement and reason for transfer. Authorise exchange of relevant records. Under the applicable IAF MD2 route, valid accredited certification and the receiving body’s coverage matter; known suspended certification is not eligible for transfer.
Keep transfer distinct from scope expansion
The receiving body assesses outstanding issues and decides independently whether transfer can proceed or the applicant must be treated as a new client. Missing required audit reports or an incomplete audit programme can block the route. Adding a new activity or location is not achieved by printing a new issuer’s name. Obtain written treatment of the remaining cycle, scope and unresolved findings.
Build scope from actual activities
Map sites, activities, products and services to the controls the organisation can exercise and the influences it can apply. Include outsourced operations and relevant life-cycle stages in the assessment. A head-office-only scope should not imply that a plant’s emissions, wastewater or waste operations were assessed. State the boundaries and relevant external dependencies clearly.
Standard edition and programme limits
The current ISO catalogue edition is ISO 14001:2026. Publication alone does not determine an existing certificate’s status or extend a body’s accredited scope. Confirm edition and transition arrangements with the issuer. A management-system certificate is not an environmental permit, a zero-pollution claim or a guarantee that every legal condition is continuously met.
ISO does not issue certificates. Verify the proposed issuer, standard and activity against any claimed accreditation scope. Consultancy cannot guarantee approval; the competent body evaluates evidence and makes the independent decision. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
Official sources and application limits
The operating examples are hypothetical, not customer events or guaranteed decisions. The actual standard and competent body determine requirements.
