ISO 22301 application: critical activities and recovery
Explain which activities can tolerate which disruption effects before choosing a plan.
Decision and conditional example
In a hypothetical logistics business, order intake, warehouse movements and delivery scheduling have different interruption effects. Business impact analysis establishes priorities through dependencies and required resources. If an alternative warehouse or system is proposed, verify real capacity and access. The plan is more than a contact list: test responsibilities, decision points and usable actions. Link exercise gaps to improvement. For application, describe activities, sites, outsourced services and system boundaries. A request for certification does not substitute for workable recovery arrangements or prove that every continuity target will always be met.

Standard and authority boundaries
ISO 22301:2019 specifies business-continuity management-system requirements; the 2024 amendment is distinct from a new edition. Certification does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or an identical service level in every disaster. Business impact analysis, resource dependencies, continuity strategies and exercise results must relate to the actual certified scope.
Kayra’s role and the independent decision
The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. ISO publishes standards and does not certify organisations. Verify the chosen body’s current standard edition, activity coverage and any claimed accreditation. Preparation does not guarantee approval, legal compliance or authority to certify a newly published edition. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
