ISO 45001: choosing a certification and consultancy provider
Compare actual workplace competence, impartial roles and written assessment assumptions.
Decision and conditional example
Describe sites, shifts, tasks, workforce and contractor interfaces before requesting proposals. A maintenance workshop and a desk-based service need different hazard evidence and audit competence. Verify the legal issuer, current ISO 45001 activity coverage and any claimed accreditation through official records. Ask how the team will observe relevant work and evaluate worker participation, control implementation and incident follow-up. Separate client-specific preparation from audit and independent decision; guaranteed approval is not an impartial assessment route. Compare initial assessment, surveillance, recertification, travel and additional work using the same scope assumptions. Required occupational services and workplace improvements remain separate tasks.
Evidence linked to this purpose
- Workplace and team competence match
- Issuer scope and impartial role verification
- Comparable audit and fee assumptions
Standard and authority boundaries
ISO 45001:2018 and its 2024 amendment remain the published framework; a revision project is not a new published edition. Certification is not an accident-free guarantee and does not replace employer duties, required occupational services or operating permissions. Worker consultation and participation are assessed through actual practice.
Kayra’s role and the independent decision
The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. ISO publishes standards and does not certify organisations. Verify the chosen body’s current standard edition, activity coverage and any claimed accreditation. Preparation does not guarantee approval, legal compliance or authority to certify a newly published edition. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
