ISO 9001:2026 Changes and Transition Guide
Start an edition change by confirming what is published, what your certificate states and which transition route your issuer can actually offer. These are three different checks. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system.

Use an authorised text and a gap record
Compare the purchased current edition with the edition used by the system; catalogue summaries alone cannot identify every changed requirement. Record the affected process, required action, owner, evidence and review date. A renamed document is insufficient if implementation changes. Distinguish a published edition, an amendment and a draft revision project.
Confirm the certificate route before booking
Ask the body to confirm its edition coverage, applicable transition instructions, audit route and decision deadlines in writing. Do not infer a universal grace period from publication or assume an old scope annex authorises the new edition. An earlier certificate’s live status must be checked with its issuer. Plan evidence and corrective action before the transition decision; consultancy cannot extend validity.
Write scope from the work actually performed
Identify products or services, activities and sites. Map design responsibility and outsourced processes to actual controls. A sales-office scope cannot stand for manufacturing performed elsewhere. In a hypothetical order change, trace who agrees the revised specification and how the production team receives it.
Standard edition and programme limits
The current ISO catalogue edition is ISO 9001:2026. Withdrawal of the 2015 edition from the catalogue alone does not determine an existing certificate’s status. Confirm applicable edition, transition arrangements and the issuer’s accredited coverage separately. Quality management-system certification is not product approval or a guarantee of flawless delivery on every order.
ISO does not issue certificates. Verify the proposed issuer, standard and activity against any claimed accreditation scope. Consultancy cannot guarantee approval; the competent body evaluates evidence and makes the independent decision. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
Official sources and application limits
The operating examples are hypothetical, not customer events or guaranteed decisions. The actual standard and competent body determine requirements.
