Information security certification and Turkish data-protection duties
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 manages information security risks within a defined system. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system.
Information security certification and Turkish data-protection duties
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 manages information security risks within a defined system. Türkiye’s Law 6698 sets legal duties for personal-data processing. Security controls can support these duties, but certification does not itself establish lawful processing, notice, retention, data-subject response or international-transfer compliance. Evaluate those duties against the actual processing and current official Turkish text.
Conditional operating example
In a hypothetical employee database, an access-control review may show that only authorised users can read records. Separately establish the processing purpose and legal basis, required information to employees, retention decision and response route for requests. A secure system can still retain unnecessary data. Keep legal decisions and security treatment connected without treating the certificate as an exemption or official legal approval.
Connect risk decisions to the Statement of Applicability
Use agreed assessment criteria to identify and evaluate risks, select treatment and assign owners. The Statement of Applicability explains necessary controls, implementation status and reasons for inclusion or exclusion against the reference set. Copying another organisation’s control list without considering your risks breaks the decision trail. Additional controls may be needed for your obligations and activity.
Standard edition and programme limits
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 with its 2024 amendment addresses an information security management system. Risk assessment and treatment, the Statement of Applicability and control results must relate to scope. Certification does not guarantee no attack, security of every product or satisfaction of all data-protection duties.
ISO does not issue certificates. Verify the proposed issuer, standard and activity against any claimed accreditation scope. Consultancy cannot guarantee approval; the competent body evaluates evidence and makes the independent decision. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
