Is TSEK mandatory? Find the controlling requirement and correct product route
Separate a law, tender or contract requirement from eligibility for TSEK. Absence of a Turkish standard does not make a product unregulated or automatically require a TSEK certificate.
Ask what makes the document necessary
Identify the product, intended use and market, then obtain the current text that asks for evidence: applicable legislation, tender conditions or the purchase contract. Determine whether it requires TSEK specifically, a stated performance or another acceptable document. A customer’s request may be commercially binding without establishing a legal requirement for every product in the market.
TSE’s public explanation distinguishes voluntary standards from standards made compulsory through official publication. That distinction alone does not prove that a particular TSEK certificate is universally mandatory. Check the actual legal or purchasing requirement and product scope, keeping current text and any official clarification instead of relying on an old general checklist.
Two buyers can require different evidence for the same item
Conditional example: one contract expressly requests TSEK to an identified criterion, while another buyer asks about a CE route for the item’s intended market. Identify what each text actually demands and whether relevant product legislation applies. Do not tell the second buyer that TSEK automatically replaces CE, or tell the first that a laboratory report necessarily satisfies an explicit certificate requirement.
If a requirement or alternative is ambiguous, obtain clarification from the responsible buyer or authority before committing the offer. Confirm TSEK programme eligibility and the accepted criterion with TSE separately. Lack of a Turkish standard is not proof of exemption from safety law, nor proof that a private quality checklist is an accepted certification basis.
Separate the requirement from the conditions for obtaining TSEK
When the correct task is TSEK, identify the actual accepted criterion and product/manufacturing evidence required by the programme. The company must implement relevant controls and provide truthful information; commissioning preparation does not satisfy these conditions by itself. TSE evaluates and decides within its programme.
