Start with a controlled configuration

Describe the apparatus, intended electromagnetic environments, normal operating modes, ports, accessories and installation conditions. Check legal scope and overlapping requirements, then select the Article14 route. Internal production control and the optional design-examination route have different tasks; neither starts with buying a generic EMC licence.

Prepare the risk and requirements assessment and the technical evidence plan. Resolve relevant emissions and immunity questions, record representative configurations, and establish manufacturing controls. Only a supported conformity decision leads to an accurate, updated declaration and marking before placement on the market; use precautions must remain consistent with the evidence.

02

Hypothetical case: kiosk file covers only immunity

A touchscreen kiosk is scheduled for residential customer locations. Its available documentation addresses immunity but leaves emissions and environmental-use coverage unexplained. The commercial team requests a declaration for immediate dispatch. Obtain the actual configuration, processor/firmware modes, attached peripherals, reports and proposed installation/use information.

List missing requirement coverage and assign technical assessment and document work before release. If the evidence does not ensure residential compliance, examine the relevant use restriction and disclosure duties instead of silently expanding the claim. Do not invent favourable measurements or replace missing emissions evidence with an unrelated electrical safety report.

03

Release record and next work

Close the documented gaps, align drawings, reports, production controls and declaration references, and verify apparatus identification and use instructions. Record which model and configurations the decision supports. A delivery date does not justify backdating evidence or declaring a wider operating environment than the technical basis supports.

Kayra can coordinate the preparation and closure register within the agreed scope. The manufacturer establishes apparatus conformity; technical parties and a chosen examiner provide their own defined work. The next action is completion of the missing emissions/environment evidence and an explicit release decision, not a promise that a draft declaration guarantees acceptance.
