01

Which product and standard are being discussed?

Does making only one component remove EN 1090 from consideration? No: the public EN 1090-1 scope includes series and non-series structural components and kits. Quantity alone does not settle the legal route. Check the supplied product, intended use, applicable specification and any genuinely applicable legal conditions instead of assuming a blanket one-off exemption.

Does a newer EN 1090-2 edition replace EN 1090-1 for CE assessment? These parts serve different purposes: Part 1 concerns conformity assessment, while the steel and aluminium execution parts address execution. Check the actual harmonised reference and the execution requirements applicable to the work; a catalogue publication date alone is not proof of the legal CE reference.

02

What does a report or body number actually show?

Can a subcontractor’s coating report prove the entire component? Not by itself. Conditional example: the report covers one surface-preparation and coating system, but the supplied component uses another system. Identify the changed configuration and affected requirements before deciding what evidence is usable. Do not rewrite the report description to hide the difference or claim a universal extra test without investigating the requirement.

Does a NANDO number verify the certificate presented by a supplier? NANDO identifies notified bodies and their assigned tasks, not the authenticity and present status of every certificate. Check the real issuer, full scope annexes and product/site identity; ask the issuer to resolve missing status information. An incomplete scan is a reason to investigate, not automatic proof of fraud.

03

Which decision can the evidence support?

Does CE or an FPC certificate approve the whole building? No. Product declarations and assigned assessment must match their actual scope, while design, connections, intended project use and construction responsibilities remain separate. Compare the supplied performance with the project’s requirements; do not turn a factory-control document into proof that every installed connection is suitable.

Can preparation services guarantee the certificate or decision date? A consultant can organise evidence and responses, but cannot bind the responsible body’s decision or perform the manufacturer’s controls by writing a file. Ask for defined preparation outputs and unresolved dependencies. A promised certificate does not answer whether the actual product, records and production meet the applicable requirements.
