How to request ETA: define the supplied product before contacting the TAB
Start an ETA request with the actual manufacturer, product, variants, intended use and claimed characteristics. Contact the competent TAB, agree the assessment basis and evidence, then track the applicable citation and CE tasks separately.
Prepare a product description that the assessment partner can use
Identify the manufacturer and the construction product actually placed on the market. Describe supplied components, variants and sizes, intended uses and the characteristics to be assessed. EOTA’s contact guidance asks for these particulars. Separate an installed project drawing from identification of the product or kit being requested; a brand name alone does not define the assessment scope.
Compare relevant harmonised coverage and the current CPR route before assuming an ETA request is available. Use the official TAB product-area information and EOTA partner tool to contact a competent assessment partner. State uncertainties honestly. Kayra’s service enquiry can support preparation, but does not lodge the manufacturer’s official request with the TAB.
Agree the product boundary before organising the evidence
Conditional example: the request is described as a fixing kit, but its only attachment is a whole-building installation drawing containing products from several suppliers. Ask which components the manufacturer actually supplies as the kit and which belong to the construction project. Do not silently claim assessment of every product shown in the drawing.
Provide the corrected kit description, controlled drawings and variant list to the TAB. Confirm intended use, relevant EAD and methods, accepted evidence and unresolved gaps. Keep the agreed product revision with laboratory requests and reports so the tested configuration corresponds to the requested scope. Do not change the product description after a test merely to make a different report appear applicable.
Track assessment prerequisites and subsequent market duties
Arrange the actual assessment and agreed additional evidence through the responsible parties. Where an EAD needs development or amendment, the TAB coordinates the relevant procedure with EOTA. Check current citation requirements and mandatory performance coverage: the new-route ETA cannot be issued before the necessary EAD citation. A booked test or a prepared request does not complete that condition.
Kayra can maintain the preparation and gap register; the manufacturer supplies truthful data and performs production tasks. The TAB decides assessment and issuance, while relevant conformity bodies perform required system tasks. Complete applicable declaration and CE work using the issued scope. No universal document count, guaranteed assessment date or automatic acceptance of the construction project is promised.
