FPC questions: ISO evidence, retesting and who can close a finding

Understand when a management-system document is insufficient, why a passing retest does not erase a failed lot, and who decides within the actual assessment route.

Can an ISO certificate replace product-specific production control?

An ISO management-system certificate can be relevant to organisational arrangements, but it does not establish every product-specific control, declared performance or applicable FPC certification task. Compare the actual product specification, assessment system and required evidence rather than substituting a familiar logo for a requirement.

Identify which existing procedures and records genuinely cover the product, site and process. Reuse relevant evidence with its scope and gaps stated. A generic quality manual that never addresses the product’s acceptance criteria or actual production records cannot alone demonstrate the implemented control required for that product.

02

Does one successful retest erase a failed production lot?

Conditional example: a lot fails the factory’s applicable acceptance check; a later selected specimen passes. Keep both results with their sample and lot identities. Determine whether the relevant procedure allows resampling or retesting, under what conditions and with what decision about the affected production. Choosing the best result is not a control method.

Trace the failed lot, any delivery and the actual containment or disposition. Investigate the reason for failure and verify corrective action where required. Do not rewrite the initial result, invent a held shipment or infer that one good specimen proves the whole lot. The governing specification and actual records must support the decision.

03

Can preparation work itself close a body’s finding?

A consultant can help organise the response and relevant implementation evidence. The manufacturer performs the required production controls and corrective work; the assigned body considers findings within its actual task. A newly drafted procedure or consultant’s completion note does not constitute the body’s acceptance decision.

Kayra’s preparation support should have defined outputs and unresolved dependencies. Seek a dated response from the responsible decision-maker where applicable and retain the evidence submitted. This guide does not prescribe a universal sampling frequency, automatic retest acceptance, certificate fee or guaranteed positive outcome.
