PED: From Equipment Inputs to the Conformity Route
There is no single PED application that suits all pressure equipment. Start with a controlled product definition and pass unresolved classification questions to the appropriate responsible party.
Prepare the initial equipment record
Identify the manufacturer, equipment function, intended market and assembly boundary. Record PS, allowable temperature, fluid classification, V or DN and whether production is individual or serial. Attach current drawings and describe intended and reasonably foreseeable operating conditions.
Check scope exclusions and Article 4 before selecting the Annex II table. Record the category or SEP conclusion with its input evidence. Do not infer fluid group from a trade name alone; actual substance or mixture classification and temperature conditions matter.
Resolve a multi-chamber question before applying
Hypothetically, a heat exchanger has one chamber for a flammable fluid and another for cooling water, but the supplier provides only a total volume. Obtain each chamber's limits, volume and fluid information. Article 13 uses the highest category applicable to the individual chambers; a single total-volume entry does not justify the result.
Once classification is supported, select an available Article 14 procedure. Establish the relevant manufacturer's tasks and any body participation. Submit the correct configuration to the body, with manufacturing and assessment plans, instead of asking a general certificate supplier to choose from incomplete data.
Complete evidence and control changes
Link design calculations, materials, joining and test evidence to the manufacturing plan. Resolve gaps, carry out the applicable final assessment and prepare the required marking, instructions and declaration. A changed chamber or fluid requires review of the classification and evidence rather than reuse of the previous application unexamined.
For Kayra intake, identify the requested activity and available records so permitted role, authority and impartiality can be checked. No universal fee, completion date or certificate result is promised. The manufacturer remains responsible for placing the conforming product on the market.
Questions for this purpose
Should I choose the module before defining the product?
No. The supported classification determines the available procedures.
Can a multi-chamber vessel use only total volume?
The individual chamber inputs and applicable category conclusions must be evaluated.
Can the old application cover a different fluid?
Review the classification, hazards and evidence before reusing the former route.
PED enquiry: scope and activity
Send the controlled equipment definition, chamber or piping data, fluid information and current drawings. State unresolved classification inputs explicitly.
