amfori BSCI: Identify each decision maker
Updated:
amfori BSCI is a programme for assessing and improving social risks at production sites; it is not certification.
Identify each decision maker
If a seller offers a document headed “BSCI certificate”, verify what it actually is before payment. The responsible member requests and approves the programme audit; an authorised auditing partner conducts the assessment and the resulting report has its own access arrangements. A consultant’s logo or management-system accreditation does not acquire these programme roles.
Identify who owns the audit request
amfori BSCI is a programme for assessing and improving social risks at production sites; it is not certification. The amfori member holding RSP responsibility requests and approves the audit. A producer should confirm the customer’s membership, ability to hold RSP and platform invitation. A consultancy enquiry or payment cannot replace that authorisation chain.
Code of Conduct and preparation
Confirm applicable programme documents and Code of Conduct with the customer/RSP holder. Identify implementation gaps in hours, pay, recruitment, safety and worker involvement. Check the auditing company’s BSCI role in amfori’s current partner directory. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. An enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
