Who prepares and verifies a carbon footprint?
ISO publishes standards, while GHG Protocol publishes accounting resources; neither reference alone means that the publisher issued a certificate for an organisation.
There is no single issuer for every carbon result
ISO publishes standards, while GHG Protocol publishes accounting resources; neither reference alone means that the publisher issued a certificate for an organisation. The organisation prepares and reports its inventory, with support where agreed. If independent assurance is commissioned, the selected body assesses the specified greenhouse-gas statement under the applicable programme and method. A regulatory submission, a customer disclosure and a voluntary verified inventory can therefore involve different decision or acceptance channels.
Name the accountable party for each handover
For example, a customer may request both a corporate inventory and independent assurance. Assign internal responsibility for source data and boundary approval, preparation responsibility for the calculation and report, and independent responsibility for the assurance conclusion. Ask the customer which criteria and provider scope it accepts before commissioning the assessor. Sending the file through a consultant does not transfer the reporting organisation’s responsibility or give the consultant authority to approve the independent conclusion.
Check actual scope before using an accreditation claim
If a programme requires an accredited verifier, compare the body’s legal identity and current official scope with the relevant greenhouse-gas activity and statement. A management-system accreditation for another subject is not proof of this scope. Read any programme-specific appointment or recognition conditions separately. Kayra offers preparation and coordination within an agreed consultancy scope; this page does not claim Kayra or QRS is an appointed verifier. Any independent decision remains with the properly selected assessment body or competent authority.
Preparation support and its limits
Kayra can support boundary definition, data mapping, calculation review and report preparation within an agreed consultancy scope. The organisation supplies and approves its underlying information. Independent assessment, programme acceptance and official decisions remain separate. These worked examples are hypothetical, not local customer events. No QRS or Kayra verification accreditation, fixed fee, guaranteed conclusion or universal legal obligation is asserted here.
Primary method sources and application limits
