SA8000: Verify identity, scope and edition together
Updated:
SA8000 concerns workplace conditions and the system managing them.
Verify identity, scope and edition together
If a supplier presents a 2014 certificate beside a 2026 training record, check them as different documents. Match the organisation, site, certificate scope, edition and actual current status through the official programme route and CAB. Do not replace an unresolved status check with a logo or invoice. Completion of self-assessment is not evidence of a 2026 certification decision.
Separate learning and recertification dates
For a certification or recertification audit in 2026, required training and self-assessment are completed beforehand; the general deadline for certified organisations is 31 December 2026. Transition auditing follows the relevant SAI cohort and CAB plan separately. The self-assessment is a learning tool: track completion, but do not present its score as an audit result or a certificate.
Preparation and the independent assessment body
Review gaps, opportunities for workers to speak and management ownership of corrective work. Discuss certification with a CAB listed in SAAS’s current register; check its country scope and approval to assess the 2026 edition. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
