İzmir Trademark Registration Application and District Guide
Plan an İzmir trademark application around the owner, the sign and the actual goods and services. Districts help explain business use; they do not create a separate registration procedure or a guarantee of protection.

Clearance and the protection you need
Start with the word, logo or combined sign you intend to use, the correct owner and the sales channels. Search earlier marks for visual, phonetic and relevant goods-and-services similarities. An available company name or domain does not establish that a trademark can be registered.
Four district business scenarios
Choose the scenario that matches your activity. These examples describe preparation decisions, not actual clients or a promise of district offices. The same Turkish filing route applies throughout İzmir.
Central districts: retail, online sales and branches
For businesses in Konak, Karşıyaka, Bornova, Bayraklı and Buca, distinguish the shop name from branded products and from online, advertising or software services.
- Check product goods separately from retail services; a shop classification is not a complete product list.
- Identify who owns the sign before opening another branch or granting a franchise.
- Include planned online channels and near-term activities in the intended-use list.
Industry and manufacturing: products, spare parts and maintenance
For manufacturers in Aliağa, Kemalpaşa, Torbalı, Menemen, Çiğli, Gaziemir and Bornova, the company name, product series, spare parts, maintenance and export brand may have different protection needs.
- List machinery, chemicals, metal, packaging or food by their real commercial descriptions.
- Assess installation, maintenance, wholesale and retail services separately from product goods.
- Search foreign-language or technical names for spelling and sound similarities; plan export markets separately.
Peninsula and tourism: accommodation, restaurants and seasonal use
For activities in Çeşme, Urla, Seferihisar, Karaburun, Foça and Selçuk, a hotel or restaurant name may also be used for packaged food, events or online booking.
- Separate accommodation and restaurant services from branded retail products.
- Investigate distinctiveness and earlier rights when the sign contains a place name.
- Keep dated seasonal-use, licence and franchise records relevant to the actual use.
North and Küçük Menderes: agricultural and processed products
For industrial and port-related activities in the north and agricultural, food or machinery businesses in the Küçük Menderes area, distinguish a geographical name, a product mark and a business name.
- Assess raw agricultural products, processed foods and retail services as separate descriptions.
- Check geographical wording for distinctiveness and potentially misleading origin claims.
- Coordinate Turkish filing and the chosen international route with the actual export plan.
Prepare the trademark file
The working file should contain the applicant’s person or company details, a clear representation of the mark, the intended goods and services and the clearance-search notes. Nice classes organise the list; class numbers alone do not decide similarity or the full legal scope.
- Confirm the owner and distinguish word and logo protection goals.
- Write actual and planned goods and services, rather than only a broad sector label.
- Keep earlier use, publication, licence and ownership records where relevant.
- Determine any representation, priority or special-mark documents from the particular application.
Filing, decisions and cost
TÜRKPATENT examines the application and makes the registration decision. Kayra supports searching, classification, file preparation and coordination; representation authority should be verified for the actual person undertaking the filing. Examination, publication, opposition and responses depend on the file, so a fixed completion date or registration result cannot be promised.
Compare current official application and registration fees separately from research, representation and any opposition or international work. The number of classes and additional transactions affect cost; use the official tariff at the transaction date.
A trademark protects the commercial sign in its applicable goods-and-services context. It does not by itself protect a technical invention or every aspect of a product’s appearance. Consider patent or utility-model work for a technical solution and design protection for appearance as separate decisions.

Is registration different in each İzmir district?
No. TÜRKPATENT is the registration authority for Turkish trademark applications. The district scenarios help choose goods, services and evidence for the business; they do not create district-specific rights.
Which information should I send first?
Send the proposed word or logo, the intended owner, actual and planned goods and services, target markets and any previous application details. Additional documents depend on the file.
Does a trademark application protect a new machine design?
The brand name and the technical solution are different protection subjects. Review patent or utility-model requirements for an invention, and design protection for product appearance, separately from the trademark.
Plan the sign, owner and goods-and-services list.
Share your proposed mark, business activities, target markets and any existing application. We can organise the clearance and filing preparation around that information.
