Evidence in service management is not measured by the number of files. Commitments, actions and results for the same service must explain one another. A preparation schedule and certification budget should follow the actual implementation.

01

Organise evidence by service

Match the approved catalogue, service level agreements, service reports and supplier reviews to the same scope. Make incident and service request records, problem analyses, changes, releases and configuration information retrievable by their own work identifiers. For capacity, availability and service continuity, prepare review results as well as plans. Electronic records can be used; do not invent past incidents just to populate an audit folder.

02

Trace an interruption to an improvement

For a hypothetical application interruption, retain its start time, customer impact, priority, response and restoration record. If a problem investigation addresses recurrence, link its cause analysis and solution decision to the incident. If a change implements the solution, connect approval, testing, deployment and subsequent service results. This illustrates one coherent evidence trail rather than asserting that every incident needs an identical workflow.

03

Separate preparation, audit work and decision

Plan missing process implementation, record generation, internal audit and management review as separate preparation activities. Audit working time is not the same as calendar waiting time. Services, sites, suppliers, personnel and operational complexity can influence the review. Ask the certification body to explain its plan using the ISO/IEC 20000-6 framework; a fixed number of days for every organisation is not a sound planning assumption.

04

Compare the fee terms

Separate internal staff time, any consulting or training, and independent certification expenses. Compare initial evaluation, surveillance, recertification, travel, additional review and tax terms. Payment to a consultant does not purchase a favourable certification decision. Check how unresolved findings and scope changes may affect the agreed work and additional fees.

05

Verify the current certificate status

Match the certificate number, legal entity, service scope, locations and standard edition against the issuing body’s official record. An unexpired PDF may omit suspension information. Verify any accreditation claim against the relevant standard and scope separately. The certificate does not approve the supplied software as a product or replace ISO/IEC 27001 certification or a guarantee of incident-free service.

Sources and application limits

Examples explain a method; they are not reported customer incidents or guaranteed results. Confirm validity and authority using current official records.
