Beyond electric shock
LVD safety objectives concern hazards from electrical equipment and protection against external influences. Relevant temperature, arc, radiation, insulation and non-electrical hazards must be addressed, rather than treating electrical shock as the entire assessment.
Describe actual conditions
Identify users, installation, maintenance, environment and loads. Evaluate accessible parts, protective construction, insulation and thermal design under a suitable product standard and method. Test conditions and limits must follow that method; there is no identical test package for every product. Link each hazard to a design measure and verification.
Read the evidence within its limits
A favourable report covers its sample, methods and conditions. Other applicable safety objectives still require evidence. LVD conformity remains the manufacturer’s responsibility and requires no notified body. Kayra supports risk/evidence organisation; this general article cannot establish a specific product’s safe design.
