GDP for Medicines: Official Document Verification and Validity

A regulatory GDP certificate, a wholesale distribution authorisation and a private assessment document are different records. In the EEA, the competent authority issues the regulatory GDP compliance outcome after inspection. EudraGMDP contains relevant authorisations, GDP certificates and non-compliance information; a consultancy logo is not that authority.

Identify the kind of GDP document before checking it

A regulatory GDP certificate, a wholesale distribution authorisation and a private assessment document are different records. In the EEA, the competent authority issues the regulatory GDP compliance outcome after inspection. EudraGMDP contains relevant authorisations, GDP certificates and non-compliance information; a consultancy logo is not that authority.

Read the legal entity, site address, inspected activity, issuing authority, inspection date and document identifiers. Where an authorisation number is referenced, check that separate record as well. Do not assume that a GDP certificate alone establishes every activity authorised to the wholesaler or the status of every warehouse.

Resolve site and scope mismatches through the issuer

Hypothetically, a supplier sends a GDP document for its former warehouse address while offering stock from a newly relocated site. Matching the company name is insufficient. Record the discrepancy and seek current authorisation and inspection information for the actual site from the responsible party or competent authority.

Compare the relevant public records and any available non-compliance information. A missing search result can reflect the search terms, record access or jurisdiction; it is not enough to accuse a company of fraud. For Türkiye, verify the current local authority route separately rather than treating the EEA database as a complete national permit register.

Check current validity without certifying the medicine

The former blanket pandemic extension of GDP certificates no longer applies from 2025, according to EMA. Check the issuing authority’s current information and any document limitations instead of relying on an old extension notice or an assumed universal expiry period.

Kayra can help organise the verification questions and evidence trail. Only the issuing authority can clarify its official decision and the applicable authorisation. Verifying a warehouse document does not decide the safety, usability or release of a particular medicine batch; retain product-specific records and the decisions of responsible personnel separately.

Official sources

The issuing competent authority and relevant official records govern regulatory GDP verification. Kayra supports record organisation; it does not validate an official permit, extend a certificate or release medicine batches.

Is a private GDP assessment the same as a regulatory certificate?

No. Identify the issuer and document type; private assessment does not replace authority-issued authorisation or inspection outcomes.

Is the company name enough after a warehouse move?

No. Verify the actual site address, activity and current authority records.

Does a verified GDP document release a batch?

No. Product-specific disposition requires its own responsible evaluation; document verification is not a release decision.
