Food GMP and GHP: Who Prepares, Assesses and Decides?
For a food GMP/GHP request, first establish whether the buyer wants hygiene preparation, a particular private assessment or statutory establishment documentation. GMP/GHP describes practices; it does not by itself identify one universal food certificate or authorised issuer. Ask for the actual requirement, sector, site and decision basis in writing.
Name the requested outcome before its provider
The food operator owns hygiene controls, competent responsibilities and truthful records. Consultancy may organise agreed preparation and gaps. If certification is requested under a named programme, verify its actual issuer, applicable scope and independent decision arrangements; a training provider or consultant is not automatically that issuer.
Match the claimed competence to food operations
Check that the proposed work concerns the actual food process and equipment. A cosmetics or pharmaceutical GMP reference does not prove food-hygiene assessment authority. Ask what the assessment will examine, who evaluates findings and who takes the decision. Do not infer scheme approval from a logo, business registration or a consultant’s commercial promise.
Hypothetically, a buyer asks a nut-butter producer for GMP evidence, but the proposal refers only to cosmetics ISO 22716 experience. Ask the buyer to confirm the intended food requirement, then examine the proposed food assessment basis and issuer scope. Keep relevant consultant experience separate from certification authority. Do not present a cosmetics assessment as proof that the food site is certified or that its products have statutory approval.
Keep the official route and private decision separate
In Türkiye, identify the applicable food-establishment registration or approval procedure through the Ministry’s official information for the actual activity. A private hygiene assessment or preparation report does not grant that registration or approval. Conversely, an official establishment document is not automatically the buyer’s requested private programme certificate.
Kayra can coordinate agreed preparation and clarify evidence needs; the business implements controls. FAO/Codex provides hygiene guidance and does not issue enterprise GMP/GHP certificates. Any independent assessment decision belongs to its identified issuer, and statutory decisions belong to the competent authority. Do not advertise an unnamed or guaranteed certification outcome.
