SA8000 conditions: scope and worker practices
Updated:
Explain the customer, contractual or programme basis of the request. Preparation concerns actual workers and workplace practices, not only a policy folder.
Decision and worked example
Example: An organisation lists permanent staff but excludes agency and seasonal workers present at the site. Establish the actual workforce and locations first. Compare payroll, attendance and overtime for the same period; a new policy alone does not resolve inconsistent records. Document the 2026 gap assessment and implemented actions. Confirm the current certificate edition and transition route with the CAB. A general customer request does not prove all legal duties are met or impose certification on every business; clarify the actual scope.
Records for this purpose
- Actual permanent, agency and seasonal workforce scope.
- Explained payroll, attendance and overtime relationships.
- 2026 gap assessment, responsibilities and implementation evidence.
Conditions and authority limits
Programme conditions and applicable employment-law duties are separate matters. Check edition and approved CAB; preparation is neither a certification outcome nor a guarantee of worker rights.
Kayra service role
An enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. The programme owner’s rules and the selected body’s current authority, scope and decision responsibilities are checked separately. Preparation does not guarantee certification, mark permission, an audit rating or legal compliance.
