ISO 9001 training: curriculum and assessment

This curriculum is for people who must understand or operate a quality management system: process owners, customer-facing staff and coordinators of organisational improvement.

Audience and preparation

This curriculum is for people who must understand or operate a quality management system: process owners, customer-facing staff and coordinators of organisational improvement. Begin with the organisation's actual products or services, customer requirements and each learner's responsibility. Ask participants to bring a redacted process map and one acceptance criterion. A quality-system course is different from product testing, technical inspection and learning to lead a certification audit. Confirm the edition to be taught using the current ISO catalogue and agreed course brief; a published revision does not itself prove every issuer's transition arrangements.

Learning sequence and expected records

The programme first connects organisational context, customers and process responsibilities. It then develops measurable objectives, operational planning, control of externally provided work and retention of useful evidence. Learners distinguish an output's acceptance criteria from a convenient internal activity measure, and connect complaints or failures to correction and improvement. The expected learning product is a process-learning map: who decides, what information is needed, which output is accepted and how performance is evaluated. Learning clauses in isolation cannot replace that connection.

Planning exercise

A hypothetical software-maintenance company asks for one course for its service desk and development manager. Plan a shared introduction and separate tasks. The service desk must practise recording and confirming the customer's requested service; the manager must translate approved requirements into acceptance and change responsibilities across the team. Select a sanitised request, a service description and an acceptance record, then write evaluation criteria for each role. A plan that assesses only customer-satisfaction vocabulary or assumes a quality certificate proves the software's technical safety does not meet the learning objective.

Assessment and role limits

Assessment combines a requirements interpretation, a process map and an explanation of a justified improvement measure. The learner must show the criterion, relevant record and responsible decision, including what remains uncertain. Before scheduling, agree the operational scope, language, prior knowledge and permitted examples; no fixed duration or credential is inferred from this overview. Kayra can provide the agreed training and preparation support. Attendance and successful learning tasks are separate from independent organisational certification, professional registration and product approval; the actual certification body evaluates its own requirements.
