CERTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE GUIDE

Food GMP and GHP: Checking a Document and Its Claimed Validity

To verify a food GMP/GHP document, first distinguish a company assessment certificate, a preparation report, a training attendance document and statutory establishment records. These have different subjects and effects. Ask for the actual issuer, document number, assessment basis, named entity, address, activity scope and dates; the initials GMP do not provide a universal verification portal.

Identify what the document actually is

If a named private programme has a register, use its genuine official channel and check the relevant scope and current status. Otherwise obtain confirmation through independently located issuer contact details. A logo, scanned signature or QR code is a lead to inspect, not proof by itself that the claim matches your supplier and intended activity.

Compare the subject with the transaction

Match the legal entity, site and food activity to the actual purchase. Check whether the document concerns the business, a product, a person or a different site. Do not treat a preparation opinion or supplier assertion as an independent certificate, and do not infer that document authenticity establishes every batch’s food safety.

Hypothetically, a supplier sends a framed GMP document naming an employee who attended hygiene training, while the buyer needs evidence about the supplying food factory. Read its purpose and named subject, ask for the relevant site and assessment evidence, and verify any claimed issuer status. The attendance document may be genuine but does not certify the factory. Do not call it fraudulent merely because it does not satisfy the buyer’s requirement.

Record limitations without inventing a status

Save the check date, source, identifiers, confirmed scope and unresolved points. Confirm expiry, suspension or withdrawal only through the actual applicable issuer or programme evidence. If information is unavailable, state that limitation and request clarification rather than inventing a positive status or accusing the business.

For Türkiye establishment registration or approval, consult the Ministry’s official route separately; it is not a private GMP certificate register. Kayra can organise verification questions and evidence, not validate all unnamed programmes or grant official status. FAO/Codex publishes hygiene guidance but does not issue or maintain enterprise GMP/GHP certificates.

Official sources

Check the actual document type, subject, scope and issuer status. Private document verification and statutory establishment procedures remain separate.

Does hygiene training certify the factory?

No. Check whether the document concerns a person or a business assessment.

Is there a universal FAO GMP certificate register?

No. FAO/Codex guidance is not enterprise certification.

Does authenticity prove every batch safe?

No. Scope and actual product-control evidence remain necessary.
