Food GMP and GHP: Continuing Controls and Document Renewal
Food GMP/GHP controls must continue in the real operation, not only before a review. Assign responsibility for current instructions, cleaning, pest control, maintenance, receiving and staff competence. Review relevant changes and exceptions using genuine records; possession of an old document does not demonstrate that today’s conditions remain controlled.
Separate hygiene maintenance from document renewal
If a private assessment document exists, identify its actual programme, scope, issuer, validity and follow-up rules. Confirm renewal with that issuer rather than inventing an annual audit or a universal certificate duration. FAO/Codex guidance does not run enterprise GMP/GHP certification or automatically extend private documents.
Reassess a changed input before relying on old evidence
Link a relevant change to its products, equipment and hygiene controls. Examine whether the existing evidence still represents the actual operation, who evaluates the change and what suitable new evidence is needed. Document the decision and follow-up without rewriting past records to fit the new arrangement.
Hypothetically, a food plant’s water supply changes from its recorded source to tanker deliveries during repair work. The old source report does not automatically represent those deliveries. Describe actual water use, source, transfer and storage, obtain relevant genuine delivery information, and arrange a competent risk-based review and suitable verification. Do not invent a universal testing interval or claim an old report makes the changed supply suitable.
Maintain a usable review trail
Record what changed, what was assessed, missing evidence, responsibilities and verified follow-up. Staff must have current instructions and understand relevant changes. Separate correcting one issue from checking continued effectiveness, and evaluate potentially affected product through the business’s responsible food-safety process.
Kayra can organise agreed preparation and evidence review, not automatically renew a certificate or release product. The operator implements controls; an identified issuer makes its own private assessment decision. Statutory registration or approval and its change obligations are reviewed through their competent route, separate from the private document.
Official sources
Maintain real hygiene controls and check any private renewal through its actual issuer; preparation does not extend a certificate or replace statutory procedures.
