HACCP: Checking the Document, Its Scope and Its Current Status
Read the document’s title, issuer, holder, address, scope, reference number, dates and any annexes. Is it an operator’s HACCP plan, a consultancy report, training evidence, a statutory document or an independent assessment certificate? The word HACCP and an attractive seal do not answer that question. Different document types require different checks.
Identify what the document actually represents
For a private certificate, identify its actual assessment basis and issuing body. Check the body’s genuine contact or applicable programme source independently, matching the reference, holder, site, scope and current status. A QR image or downloaded PDF alone is not confirmation. HACCP guidance does not provide one universal FAO/Codex company-certificate registry.
Do not turn a genuine plan into independent certification
Compare the document’s subject with the buyer’s actual request and the supplied operation. Keep version and scope differences visible; ask the actual issuer for relevant clarification where necessary. Do not infer forgery merely because a document has a different purpose or lacks a public search result.
Hypothetically, a supplier sends a current HACCP plan signed by its preparation consultant and calls that signature certification, while the purchaser requires an independent assessment of the production site. The plan may be genuine and useful, but it is not automatically the requested certificate. Ask who performed the independent assessment, under which stated basis, with what site scope and decision. Do not add a certificate number to the plan or imply the buyer’s requirement was met by the consultant’s signature.
Separate document validity from actual food safety
Record the source checked, date, matching identifiers and unresolved differences. If a document has explicit validity, suspension or renewal rules, confirm them with its actual issuer; do not invent a standard period for every HACCP document. Authenticity or current status does not prove that each supplied batch is safe or that an unlisted activity is covered.
Kayra may help organise the evidence comparison and questions. The issuer or competent authority confirms its own document and decisions; the food operator owns implementation and product control. In Türkiye, statutory food-establishment registration or approval follows the Ministry route, distinct from a private HACCP certificate. Preserve this distinction when reporting the result to the purchaser.
Official sources
Confirm document type, actual scope and current issuer evidence, then state what remains unresolved without claiming batch safety.
Is a signed preparation plan an independent certificate?
Not automatically. Establish the actual assessment and decision.
Does no public result prove forgery?
No. Identify the document type and ask its actual issuer.
Does genuine status prove every batch safe?
No. Product control remains the operator’s responsibility.

The exact records for HACCP: Checking the Document, Its Scope and Its Current Status depend on the confirmed scope. Current, consistent and traceable information reduces avoidable revisions.
Scope and decision verification
For a request to Kayra, identify the document type, actual site and activity, assessment basis, existing evidence and decision owner. Scope, actual authority and impartiality are reviewed before accepting the work. Producing client-specific HACCP plans, procedures or records to establish, implement or maintain a food safety management system is not offered. General information on Codex principles or general training differs from that system-design work. A separate product assessment, test or regulatory filing requires its actual programme, competent actor and permitted scope to be checked; this page and ISO 22000 accreditation do not prove approval to issue HACCP certificates.
