CERTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE GUIDE

HACCP: Reviewing Changes and Checking Any Certificate Renewal

The HACCP plan must represent the real products, processes, intended use and controls in operation. Review relevant changes, deviations and verification results through the competent team, updating the analysis and instructions where needed. Keeping an old plan or an unexpired document does not demonstrate that a changed operation remains controlled.

Keep the working plan current, separately from certificate dates

If an independent certificate exists, identify its actual programme, scope, issuer and explicit surveillance or renewal rules. Confirm the next assessment with that issuer. HACCP guidance alone does not set one annual certification audit or a universal validity period, and revision of the business’s plan does not itself extend an external certificate.

Reassess packaging and shelf-life changes

Record what changed and which products, operations, hazards and existing evidence it affects. Check whether the control measures and verification still represent the new conditions, and identify suitable additional evidence with competent staff. Distinguish reassessing a proposed change from approving a product for sale.

Hypothetically, chilled cooked vegetables move from the existing tray pack to modified-atmosphere packaging, with a longer claimed shelf life, while the old plan and evidence describe the original pack. Obtain the actual packaging specification, process, storage and intended-use information and review the relevant hazards and control evidence. A sealed pack or an old certificate does not establish the longer shelf life. Do not relabel earlier validation as evidence for the new arrangement without a suitable technical review.

Maintain a traceable review and follow-up

Keep version history, change reasoning, genuine monitoring and verification records, open actions and responsible decisions. Communicate approved current instructions to the relevant staff and verify implementation. If a private programme requires notification or further assessment, use its actual issuer’s rules rather than guessing whether the old scope includes the change.

Before requesting support from Kayra, establish the actual task, competence, permitted role and independence arrangements. Preparation does not renew an external certificate, release batches or replace statutory procedures. The operator owns implementation and product decisions; an identified issuer decides its own certificate status. FAO/Codex explains HACCP and does not renew company certificates.

Official sources

Review the real change and its evidence, then check any external renewal through the actual issuer’s rules.

Does plan revision extend an external certificate?

No. Confirm actual issuer rules and decisions separately.

Does a sealed pack prove longer shelf life?

No. The real changed conditions need suitable technical evidence.

Is every HACCP renewal annual?

No. Identify the actual private programme’s explicit rules.

Scope and decision verification

For a request to Kayra, identify the document type, actual site and activity, assessment basis, existing evidence and decision owner. Scope, actual authority and impartiality are reviewed before accepting the work. Producing client-specific HACCP plans, procedures or records to establish, implement or maintain a food safety management system is not offered. General information on Codex principles or general training differs from that system-design work. A separate product assessment, test or regulatory filing requires its actual programme, competent actor and permitted scope to be checked; this page and ISO 22000 accreditation do not prove approval to issue HACCP certificates.
