HACCP, PRP, OPRP and CCP: choose control by the hazard decision
Prerequisite programmes establish operating conditions such as hygiene, maintenance and pest control. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system.

HACCP, PRP, OPRP and CCP: choose control by the hazard decision
Prerequisite programmes establish operating conditions such as hygiene, maintenance and pest control. Hazard analysis determines which hazards need control and how control measures are categorised under the applicable framework. Do not call every sanitation activity a CCP or assume an OPRP label proves control. Define applicable limits or action criteria, monitoring and the response to failure.
Conditional operating example
In a hypothetical chilled-food process, temperature control must relate to the actual product, process and hazard. Validation asks whether the control can achieve its intended effect; monitoring checks its operation; verification checks whether the system operates as intended. A completed temperature form alone does not supply all three. Trace deviations to product disposition and corrective action rather than merely filling a missing box.
Connect hygiene foundations and hazard analysis
Use appropriate prerequisite programmes for the activity, then assess biological, chemical and physical hazards and select controls. A hypothetical recipe change may introduce an allergen or alter a process condition; review cleaning, labelling, suppliers and hazard controls rather than only editing the product name. Distinguish validation that controls can achieve their purpose, operational monitoring and verification that the system works.
Standard edition and programme limits
ISO 22000:2018 with its 2024 amendment provides the food-safety management-system framework. A revision project is not a newly published edition. System certification is not a product certificate attesting the safety of every batch. The business retains its food-law and safety responsibilities, including HACCP and prerequisite practices appropriate to its actual activity.
ISO does not issue certificates. Verify the proposed issuer, standard and activity against any claimed accreditation scope. Consultancy cannot guarantee approval; the competent body evaluates evidence and makes the independent decision. The applicant implements the system and prepares procedures specific to its own operations and operating records. A certification enquiry to Kayra concerns actual activities, sites, application information, authority and impartiality risks; this role does not include designing or implementing the client’s system. A management-system certification body, other parts of the same legal entity and controlled entities cannot offer or provide management-system consultancy; separate contracts do not remove this restriction.
Official sources and application limits
The operating examples are hypothetical, not customer events or guaranteed decisions. The actual standard and competent body determine requirements.
