01

Define the product and its intended conditions

Regulation (EU) 2016/426 covers specified gas-burning appliances and fittings intended for incorporation. Start with the actual function, supplied configuration and intended use: a commercial gas cooker and a safety-control fitting raise different product-boundary questions. GAR product conformity does not by itself approve the building, gas connection or installer’s work.

Gas families/groups and supply pressures are decision inputs, not details to fill in after testing. Establish the destination market and the actual gas conditions for which the product is designed; reconcile category marking, instructions and configuration. Do not assign a gas family, pressure or conversion setting from a catalogue photograph.

02

Hypothetical case: a cooker offered for two gas supplies

A manufacturer offers one cooker for piped gas and bottled gas using the same model description, but the valve/injector versions and intended pressures are not identified. Obtain the variant drawings, gas train specifications, operating limits, destination information and installation instructions. Ask which configurations and conditions are actually supported by the technical evidence.

Keep the offered scope unresolved until the differences are technically assessed and linked to the supplied versions. A statement that both fuels are gaseous does not demonstrate interchangeability or safe conversion. No successful combustion result or installation approval is assumed in this example; record the missing evidence and responsible technical reviewer.

03

Scope decision and preparation support

Ordinary GAR conformity requires notified-body involvement. For series products, Article 14 combines EU-type examination with a selected production-conformity module; unit verification is an available route for single units or small quantities. The selected route and actual model coverage must be established before manufacturer declaration and marking.

Kayra can organise a product/intended-use brief and coordinate evidence questions within the agreed technical scope. The manufacturer remains responsible for product conformity, and the notified body makes its designated assessment decisions. The next action is a controlled gas/version/destination matrix; competent installation and local-use checks remain separate.
