How to complete machinery CE conformity before supply
Follow a machine-specific sequence from supply boundary and risk reduction to verification, declaration and marking.
Freeze the supply boundary and applicable law
Define the complete machine, integrated line or partly completed supply, the responsible manufacturer and intended use. Record users, installation and first EU placement date. An order date or prototype inspection does not by itself establish the legal date of placing on the market.
Before 20 January 2027, apply the Directive’s scope and Article 12 route. Map essential requirements and applicable standards to the actual product. Identify early whether an Annex IV category and incomplete standards coverage require notified-body involvement.
Complete design and verification actions
A hypothetical integrator combines a feeder, cutter and discharge conveyor with one control system. Assess transfer hazards and combined stopping functions, obtain incorporation inputs where relevant, and document the whole assembly; separate supplier reports do not replace line-level verification.
Reduce risks through design and protective measures, then verify drawings, controls, relevant tests and instructions against the final configuration. Assign each unresolved task to its design owner. Do not sign off a sample or software version different from the machine supplied.
Prepare the final supply documents
Complete the technical file, the appropriate declaration and required instructions before marking and supply. For partly completed machinery, follow the incorporation route rather than declaring the assembly a complete machine. Keep series production aligned with the assessed design.
Kayra’s agreed product preparation can organise the plan and coordinate tests or body applications. The manufacturer completes its own legal obligations and remains responsible for release. For placement from 20 January 2027, update the assessment to the Regulation rather than simply changing the declaration heading.
