Who handles ATEX: manufacturer, notified body and public authority
Identify the actual ATEX responsibilities behind the declaration, type assessment, production tasks and consultant coordination.
The responsibilities are not one issuer role
The manufacturer ensures design/manufacturing conformity, prepares technical documentation and carries out the applicable procedure. Where relevant, a notified body performs its designated assessment tasks; competent public authorities retain supervision and enforcement. Kayra’s preparation and coordination support does not make it the manufacturer, statutory notified body or public authority.
An operator marketing a product under its own name or changing it so conformity may be affected can acquire manufacturer obligations. A factory document or consultancy contract does not automatically transfer those duties. Identify the actual responsible entity, signing powers, technical-file access and any expressly limited representative mandate.
Hypothetical case: own brand and changed cable entry
An own-brand supplier replaces the cable-entry arrangement of equipment covered by a factory type certificate. It presents that certificate and a consultant invoice as proof that no further responsibility remains. Compare the supplied configuration with the approved type, annexes and conditions, and identify who authorised the change and owns the conformity decision.
Refer the relevant change through competent technical and, where required, notified-body review. Do not treat the factory certificate as blanket coverage of a new entry arrangement. Record any approved addition and production measures before relying on the document; neither own branding nor a purchased service closes that evidence gap.
Name the actual decisions and signatures
The manufacturer issues the supported EU declaration for equipment; components have their specified attestation treatment. A body’s involvement is procedure-dependent, and its identification number accompanies CE when it participates in the production-control phase. A body number should not be added merely to make the label look more authoritative.
Kayra can prepare a responsibility map and coordinate file questions. The next action is identification of the true manufacturer/signatory and closure of the cable-entry change against the actual type and production scope. No invoice or consultant letter should be represented as the legal conformity decision.
