Check ATEX documents: authenticity, scope, variants and conditions
Verify the actual product coverage and conditions separately from certificate authenticity or notified-body designation.
Ask two different verification questions
First ask whether the document was genuinely issued; then ask whether it covers the supplied product and relevant task. Obtain the full certificate, annexes, additions, model identification and validity conditions. A genuine type document for another configuration is not evidence for the variant offered to the purchaser.
Check the body’s actual ATEX designation/tasks through the official notification information, and confirm document questions through independently identified issuer channels. Notification data describe authorised body tasks, not a universal registry approving every product. Missing public search results alone do not establish either fraud or validity.
Hypothetical case: gas motor with missing annex
A purchaser receives a gas-use motor variant and an authentic-looking certificate number for another configuration. Annexes and special-use conditions are absent. Compare the plate, exact model, assembly options and instructions with the complete issued record; request the missing scope and conditions from the manufacturer and independently identified issuer.
Keep authenticity and applicability conclusions separate. Identify whether changes or additions cover the supplied configuration and what production-conformity records are relevant. Do not accept a certificate image or matching body number as proof that the actual variant and use conditions are covered; preserve unanswered questions rather than inventing a counterfeit finding.
Decide what can be relied on
The manufacturer’s declaration and production evidence remain relevant even when a type certificate is authentic. Compare conditions with the intended gas/dust and operating environment. A document verification does not classify the workplace, prove installation suitability or replace the employer’s explosion-risk assessment.
Kayra can assemble the comparison and requests, but cannot issue the body’s confirmation or an authority ruling. The next action is obtaining the complete issued record and a supported manufacturer explanation of variant, conditions and production coverage before making a purchasing acceptance decision.
