EAC certificate and declaration: choose the required form

Different documents follow different responsibilities

A certificate and a declaration of conformity are not interchangeable labels for the same service. The applicable technical regulation and scheme specify the permitted form and evidence tasks. Establish the product and intended use before comparing routes; the applicant cannot choose solely by price or preferred wording.

For certification, identify the responsible authorized assessment body and its decision tasks. For declaration, identify the applicant taking responsibility and the applicable evidence and registration requirements. Testing may be required in either route under the actual scheme; a declaration is not automatically a no-test shortcut.
