EAC costs and timing: quote the actual assessment scope
Build an EAC estimate around product scope, required evidence and assessment tasks rather than a universal fee or deadline.
What a scoped quotation needs
Provide model and variant lists, technical specifications, intended use, manufacturer and factory details, target market and batch or serial supply. The applicable regulation, assessment form and scheme must be clarified before a meaningful price is possible. A generic product description leaves laboratory and assessment needs unresolved.
Ask for separate items for preparation, applicable assessment-body work, tests, samples and logistics, translations and any travel or surveillance included in the scheme. Distinguish consultancy charges from third-party charges and confirm tax, currency, scope and quotation validity. No universal official EAC tariff is asserted here.
Where time and cost can change
A schedule should show document review, acceptance of the testing plan, sample availability, laboratory work, corrections and the responsible participant’s decision or registration steps. Dates depend on the actual route and participants. Starting consultancy work does not start a guaranteed certificate countdown.
Conditional example: a quoted model gains a new power supply and safety-critical component before testing. Check whether the scope and test plan must change before relying on the earlier quote. Record the reason, added tasks and revised schedule rather than promising the unchanged price or using another model’s report.
Compare responsibilities and exclusions
Compare offers against the same models, factories, scheme and evidence requirements. State whether additional testing, resubmission, changed models and ongoing surveillance are included or separately charged. A low headline price is not proof that required tasks have been included.
Kayra can organize the scope and request clarification of costs and dependencies. The relevant assessment participants determine their tasks and fees, and the responsible applicant retains its obligations. Kayra does not guarantee approval or a completion date; unresolved scope and evidence gaps should remain visible in the estimate.
