TSEK: Technical Criteria, Product Variants and Certificate Scope
Identify the technical criteria used for TSEK assessment. Conformity to those criteria does not automatically establish compliance with every market or regulatory requirement.
Questions for your situation
Do TSEK and TSE product certification use the same basis?
Read the basis stated on the certificate. TSE product certification relates to the applicable Turkish standard; TSEK relates to relevant TSE criteria. Do not assume every product offers a free choice based on price. Determining the applicable standard or criteria is an essential application step.
How should a new product unlike existing products be presented?
Prepare intended use, technical characteristics, model differences and existing test evidence. Discuss available criteria and additional technical assessment with TSE. A commercial description of novelty is insufficient. Support critical performance claims and use limitations with technical information.
Does TSEK replace CE marking?
No. Assess applicable CE-related legal obligations separately. TSEK has a different basis and scope. Some tests may provide useful evidence, but one certification does not necessarily complete another procedure. Check target-market requirements and customer conditions independently.
What should be reported when the same product is made at another site?
Assess differences in the factory, processes and controls against TSE conditions. Even apparently identical products need evidence of consistent production at the new location. Do not claim all new production falls within existing scope before necessary notification and assessment.
Do existing tests become useless when criteria are updated?
Review changed technical requirements and transition conditions. Determine which characteristics old reports still support and what additional evidence is needed. Updates do not automatically mean complete retesting or indefinite acceptance. Conduct a gap review against TSE's applicable current conditions.
Can a catalogue claim higher performance than the certificate supports?
Marketing claims require technical evidence and appropriate representation of certification scope. Do not present unassessed or higher performance as certified. Correct affected catalogues, labels and customer information when errors emerge. Performance complaints may also require technical investigation.
