Check LVD evidence: product identity, issuer and current coverage

Compare declarations and test reports with the delivered electrical equipment instead of treating a certificate number as universal proof.

Identify what is being verified

There is no universal public register of every LVD-approved product: LVD does not require a notified-body approval certificate. Start with the delivered model, manufacturer, ratings, declaration and relevant reports. Distinguish document authenticity, model coverage, revision and the technical adequacy of the evidence; these are separate questions.

Contact the actual issuer through an independently established channel where a report’s authenticity is disputed. A genuine laboratory document may concern another specimen or configuration. The manufacturer must explain how the current delivered equipment is covered, including changes made since the assessment and consistency of the declaration.

02

Hypothetical case: an old charger report

A purchaser receives a charger with a new model suffix and a different mains connection. The supplier presents an authentic report for the earlier model and describes its reference number as an LVD licence. Compare labels, ratings, construction details, report specimen data, issue/revision dates and the manufacturer’s change assessment before accepting that explanation.

Record separately whether the report is authentic and whether its coverage is established for the supplied charger. Ask for the documented relationship between the variants and any necessary further evaluation. Refuse a conclusion of current conformity based only on the report number, or a claim that a NANDO record authenticates an LVD product licence.

03

A bounded verification result

The verification note should preserve copies, dates, model/revision comparisons, issuer responses and remaining technical questions. A missing online search result is not automatically evidence of fraud. Conversely, an issuer’s confirmation of a report does not establish continued conformity after unassessed construction changes.

Kayra can help organise comparison and issuer enquiries within the agreed scope. It cannot change the issuer’s record, grant an LVD approval or replace the authority’s judgement. The next action is a manufacturer clarification tied to the exact supplied configuration, with unresolved identity or coverage questions clearly kept open.
