UTO application records: connect product configuration, performance and production
Build the UTO evidence file for the actual assessed construction product. Match drawings, samples, report methods and production records; a fixing report is not automatically proof of the complete connection.
Organise the file around the assessed characteristics
Use the product and intended use confirmed for the national route as the file’s boundary. Record supplied components, configuration, production locations and installation conditions. Link each characteristic in the agreed assessment basis to the relevant drawing, calculation, report or control record. Generic company certificates and a catalogue do not replace evidence for an individual product requirement.
A report should identify its actual specimen, preparation, method and conditions well enough to compare them with the application. Preserve the laboratory’s original scope and conclusions, including limitations. Keep current drawing and material revisions traceable to the sample and production batch; the dossier must show why an existing result concerns the product submitted, not merely that a favourable result exists.
A fixing report can leave the complete connection unproven
Conditional example: a panel-connection kit is assessed under an agreed national basis, but the available report measures only the supplied fixing’s strength. Check whether the required characteristic concerns that fixing alone or the complete joint with its panel, support and installation. Do not relabel the fixing result as the complete connection’s resistance or add the joint name to an old specimen description.
Show the tested fixing configuration and separately describe the offered joint. Identify which requirement remains without relevant evidence and ask the competent body whether any calculation or existing test is acceptable and what further work is needed. If a real new specimen or test is required, record its actual components and method. A newly written explanatory paragraph cannot perform an uncompleted assembly test.
The manufacturing records must describe real controls
Connect accepted materials and components to incoming checks, the manufacturing operations relevant to performance and actual batch identification. Keep evidence of how production remains consistent with the assessed configuration. If a supplier or location changes, record the real change and ask how it affects the approval basis; copying old control sheets does not establish that the new operation was controlled.
Kayra can register documents and gaps and coordinate agreed preparation; the applicant is responsible for accurate product records and implemented controls, and the laboratory for its actual work. The appropriately appointed technical approval body determines whether evidence meets the agreed national assessment basis and decides approval. A complete-looking document index alone is neither that decision nor permission for another product or market.
